Dojo & Coldfusion

I am hoping to start a series of Dojo tutorials, but at the moment I am in the process of getting a specific Coldfusion build.

The reason behind this is that when returning JSon data with Dojo it is all one case, which of course Dojo being a JS RIA framework, requires things to be cased.

So when I have this build, working I'll be starting and maintaining a CF Dojo build.

  • Phillip Senn's Gravatar I now have on my list of things to learn:
    XML
    ColdSpring
    SVN
    Eclipse
    cfEclipse
    FarCry 4
    Fusebox
    Model Glue
    RSS
    Spry

Q: Do I need to add Dojo?

  • Andrew Scott's Gravatar No you are not required to learn Dojo, but as far as Spry goes I thnk Dojo is worth more of an interest to look and is more feature rich than spry.

But hey if you saw what Dojo can achieve out of the box, and how easy it is to extend you'll never look back.

    But then I am biased.

  • Scott Arbeitman's Gravatar I think one should evaluate a JS framework on three (related) criteria:
    * Data and IO
    * Widgets (built-in and ease of creating new ones)
    * Animiation and other visual effects

I think Spry in simpler to use for all these criteria, but less powerful than Dojo. Sometimes I'm tempted to use both of them at the same time.
