Opensourced coldfusion engine

Now wouldn't that be a nice, well it seems that it really isn't that far away.

A engine called the Smith Engine seems to have picked up where both CF & BluDragon have left open. Free coldfusion engine. And these guys could use a bit of support, because they state very clearly that they will make it open source if there is a demand for it.

Wow I don't think these guys really know what has hit them.

  • Andrew Scott's Gravatar Hi Peter,

Thanks for posting your link it is good to see that there is still a lot of support for free with cfml, and I have been following you guys for awhile now. But I think the main point I wanted to make is that there is no CFML engine that is open source.

I think and being a personal opinion, I belive that could make all the difference for some to male a bigger impact on the CFML market.

  • Peter Hazos's Gravatar IgniteFusion is a free with no license limitations, no cutdown version. Although a majority of us working at IgniteFusion want to go Open Source there are several practical reasons that slow us down; First all third-party source code must be removed/replaced, secondly we must clean up the code in a big way, and finally most importantly we must convice all our developers and financial backers (including husbands/wives) what a great idea this is.

  • Andrew Scott's Gravatar Peter,

It would be nice to see an open source product like yours on the Market, I have been keeping a close eye on you guys for a few years now. And although it would be nice to use your product the tags and functions that I use the most are not supported by you guys (yet anyway).
