Windows Vista Pricing

Well I took the plunge and installed Vista on a seperate partition, and will evaluate the program till the 30 days is up.

But there is one thing that bothers me, the price of the program. Lets look at the ultimate version, in Australian this has an RRP of around $750.00, not 100% sure of the exact figure but that is not important.

What is important, is who sets the pricing point for diferent countries. I know for a fact that the Microsoft website has the Windows Vista full retail listed for $399.00 so if we convert that on todays market that is around $500 australian dollars a far cry from the prices that are being charged in this country.

So why is this so, and how do we stop it. Price fixing is a big problem but although this is not price fixing it should not be allowed.

It would be nice to dig up some more on this and why this is the case, as far as I am concerend I should be buying the program for the same price as anywhere else on this planet and not $200+ more than an American can.

Leave your feedback, please I do plan on chasing this up a bit further and post the results back here.

  • Andrew Scott's Gravatar Peter,

That is still overpriced the Full Reteil I can buy from the states for $500.00 why would I pay $7.00 less and get the upgrade version:-)

Anyway the Ultimate upgrade in the states is around $245.00 USD, which should sell here for $310.00 Australian.
