Google Chrome

Well I downloaded this the day it was released, and even though there are some serious issues with it. I can safely say from what I have seen I am fairly impressed. Now although some of the issues are more related to DHTML and Ajax, there are a few sites in which will not run on it and facebook is one...Anyway, its beta and I am not that fussed about those issues as I use Firefox 3 for development anyway. But the things that I do like, outway the issues that are yet to be tidied up.
The very first thing that impressed me, was the fact that each page has its own URL box. Something that I really didn't notice before, or maybe didn't really care about. But to have this in a browser, what I novility concept I liked it.
The next thing that impressed me the most, and this might need some tweaking to implement properly but it is a nice feature that has been added. And that is what Google call incognito mode (I think I spelled that right), this allows for browsing and all data is removed when the session is closed.
The idea behind this is that if I wanted to browse for a gift, I would be able too without anyone knowing why I browsed that site. The downside to this, is that it could lead to abuse from children for the reason it exists. So how this will get fully implemented I am not to sure, but if you are like me with a proxy and firewall. I can still see what is in the logs, so it kind of defeats the purpose.
The next nice addition is the javascript console, now although it is again beta, I am sure that this is going to evolve overtime as well. But at the moment I prefer fireBug, but it will be one that I will keep an eye on.
There are a lot more new features, but the one that I tend to like is the one IE introduced an that is thumbnails of the pages for a history. IE7 introduced this, but I never really used it. Maybe cause it wasn't as much in your face as Chrome has made this feature.
But the one thing that is exciting me, is that gears is built in and I could be wrong. But this could be Googles answer to Air and Silverlight, very cut down in a browser sort of way. But I do see this as a way for google to tie or all their applications together.
Anyway, it will be intersting to see how this product evolves.
