Australian Government to crack down on Corporate Pay
Tags: General
I have to say that after watching the events unfold with the AIG debacle, I was surprised to see that the Australian Government has began to take this a bit more serious.
That's not to say that the Australian Government wasn't taking it serious, it just means that we as the public can now begin to see something happening.
Under the new laws, and I am assuming this is yet to be passed. The following was quoted:
"Under the new laws shareholder approval will now be required for corporate payouts, or 'golden handshakes', of more than one year's base salary, Treasurer Wayne Swan said today."
And the government wants to hear from you too.
The treasurer has given the task force nine months to complete their inquiry, and is also inviting the public to have their say. Just head on over to www.pc.gov.au and vote with your voice.
