Coldfusion logs inside Eclipse

It seems that a lot of people aren't aware that this is possible, there are a few things that I don't like and with the announcement of Bolt this may become a better integrated solution but one will have to wait and see

Anyway if you missed it.

The fact that it can't be setup to do a tail or return n rows is a pain in the but if your log files get huge, as well as it has to be refreshed each time you click on a log type is a bit of a problem. Or even sort in reverse date order is also a problem.

But hey at least it is possible.

  • Paul Kukiel's Gravatar Just today I discovered this in Eclipse. A nice feature that I did not know was there. And yes I was using tail for Window's to watch the logs prior to this. Andrew does cover the points that may be an issue ( huge log file issue and not sortable ). But its still handy.

  • Andrew Scott's Gravatar Cheers Paul, I think we will have to wait and see what Bolt has to offer. And if Adobe will support the extensions for normal eclipse users as well.

  • Jim Priest's Gravatar I blogged about this recently and other than Ben's vague reply didn't get a response. I'm guessing Adobe is going to cut-n-run and drop any support outside of Bolt. Hope I'm wrong but that's what I'm guessing.

  • Andrew Scott's Gravatar Jim - I serioulsy hope that is not the case, but I guess if Bolt was free I could understand them no longer supporting the Extensions. However I guess that kind off forces people to move to Bolt which may not be a good move.
